Permanent cosmetics, also known as Micropigmentation, is more popular than ever! It is used to enhance facial features and as a finishing touch to surgical procedures. The procedure involves inserting pigments under the skin. After surgical procedures, permanent color can be used to camouflage scars or to create the illusion of areolas and nipples after breast cancer or reconstructive surgery. The Permanent Cosmetic procedure dates back to ancient Egypt. The industry has grown rapidly in the last 10 years.
This exciting procedure is in demand by more and more women. Woman with poor eyesight and unsteady hands find Permanent Cosmetics to be the answer to a frustrating problem. Women who travel, swim or exercise like the freedom of looking their best even under the most active conditions. People with disabilities, individuals with allergies and busy working women want to look their best. Wake up looking as good in the morning as you did in the evening?
Whatever procedures are desired, Permanent Color can create a polished look that is subtle and natural. Many women add traditional makeup for a more dressed up evening look to further enhance the “Permanent” color.
Average prices in the D/FW area range from $400-$700 for a single procedure. In the Los Angeles/Beverly Hills/New York area, expect to pay from $750 to $1800. Don't choose a technician based on price alone. Base your decision on experience and competence, not on bargain basement prices.
A topical anesthetic is applied to numb the area, and then Permanent makeup is applied with a pen-like instrument. Any discomfort you may feel is tolerable and short-lived. At Clinical Skin Center, we take the time to make sure you’re experience is comfortable and satisfying. The results are well worth it!
Who Would Benefit from Permanent Makeup?
Permanent makeup is for people who:
- Have unsteady hands
- Have little or no lip color
- Have sparse or no brow hairs
- Are allergic to regular makeup
- Have asymmetrical lip borders or thin lips
- Can't see as well to apply their makeup
- Want to wakeup every morning with a perfect face

Call Clinical Skin Care Center to schedule your Initial Consultation.
At the consultation, your technician will evaluate facial features, skin tone, and eye color. Expectations and goals for permanent makeup will be discussed. Medical history, consent, and pre/post procedure instruction forms are provided and covered. All forms should be completed prior to the procedure date. Pigment colors are discussed and selected. Photographs are taken. Individuals with medical conditions such as high blood pressure, blood-clotting problems, auto-immune conditions, fever blisters (for lip procedures) or the tendency to form scarring will be asked to consult with their doctor before undergoing a permanent makeup procedure. Permanent makeup candidates must also have healthy skin to achieve the best results. |
Frequently Asked Questions |
Why do people choose Permanent Lip Color and Liner procedures?
This procedure can be used for lip liner and full lip color. The lip line can be enhanced slightly, outside the vermilion border, to give the appearance of larger, fuller lips. As we age, our lips begin to appear thinner, irregular, and faded. Plump, colorful, well-defined lips, which define youth, are available through this procedure. Sun damage, medical conditions, hormonal changes, and tissue trauma all contribute to loss of definition and natural color. Note: If a client has ever had a cold sore or fever blister, then she must get a prescription from her doctor for one of the three prescribed drugs: Zovirax, Famvir and Valtrex. Typically the régime is taking the medication 3 to 4 days prior, during and after your procedure.
Lip Liner can give the appearance of a more defined lip or even-out an asymmetrical lip border. Most women eventually want to have their whole lip colored in permanently, because it looks the most natural.
What can I expect after completing the Lip procedures?
Lip and Liner color tend to be quite dark upon completion of the first application. This is temporary. Expect the lips to go through various changes - lips will be darker the following day and around the tenth day will look like they were never done; about the twelfth to fourteenth day the pigment resurfaces. So expect that one minute your lips will look very dark, the next hour they will look like nothing was done at all. Sometimes the pigment may even appear to have vanished from the treated area completely. It is still there. This occurs because of certain qualities in an individual's skin; it usually has nothing to do with the type of pigment used or the way it was applied.
Lips may feel chapped for several days, and it's recommended you apply Vaseline, which can be purchased at your local drugstore. Bruising may also occur, however this is usually minor and rare. Bruising may be concealed with makeup.
Why do people choose Eyebrow procedures?
Of the three primary permanent makeup procedures: eyebrows, lips and eyeliner, I consider the eyebrows the most important feature to a person's overall appearance. Many individuals have very light, thin or no brow hair commonly due to over-tweezing and aging. Applying pencil daily is a pain. It’s also embarrassing to lose your brows due to swimming, perspiring or wiping your forehead. Without distinct eyebrows, we lose the ability to communicate because our face appears expressionless. Permanent eyebrows help normalize a person's lifestyle by putting a traumatic event such as cancer treatments, an accident or medical condition behind them.
What can I expect after completing the Eyebrow procedure?
Some people experience slight temporary swelling after the procedure. This may make the brows look a bit uneven. During the healing process, the brows are dry and some pigment may flake. They will also appear much darker. This lasts for a few days, but there’s a beautiful brow underneath!
Why do people choose Eyeliner procedures?
“The eyes are the window to the soul”. Eyes are often referred to as sexy, thoughtful, tired, cheerful, lifeless and so on. With conventional cosmetics, applying pencil or liquid eyeliner is one of the more challenging tasks we do in make-up application. With eyeliner the lash line is darkened to produce a lush, full lash-line effect giving you a better look. This can be applied to the upper, lower or both lash-line areas. Eliminate that "tired and washed out" appearance by enhancing the eyes with permanent eyeliner. Permanent Makeup can be applied as light or dark, as you want, and thicker to bring out the eyes. And it doesn't smudge. If you suffer from allergies, avoid sports activities, swimming and active hobbies due to the fear of topical makeup coming off- you’re a good candidate for the Eyeliner procedure. Look your best all the time!
What can I expect during the Eyeliner procedure?
No one wants anyone near their eyes. The procedure tickles more than anything else. Once the area is numb, this procedure can be quick and is quite tolerable. Well worth the outcome!
What can I expect overall?
After your micropigmentation (permanent makeup) procedure you may experience swelling. This can result from the procedure itself or from a cream or ointment applied during or after (that's why I suggest you apply Vaseline only) otherwise do not disturb the treated area. Very rarely is the swelling excessive, but in any degree it is nothing to worry about and usually it is short lived. Ice packs applied at 10 minute intervals can control this.
Some clients may need a touch-up procedure after the first application. The touch-up is fast, easily tolerated and may be recommended.
Any pain or discomfort after the procedure is usually very minimal. Within the next 5-14 days the permanent makeup will naturalize and soften. It is impossible to accurately evaluate what the final result will be until this "naturalization" process occurs. This is especially true with eyebrows. The shape may even appear to be somewhat distorted; don't worry. Only after the pigment has had time to settle (4-6 weeks) and irritation from the process has healed can the make-up be accurately evaluated.
Due to varying degrees of difficulty of applications associated with lip/skin texture, scarring or wrinkles around lip lines from cold sores, age, laser treatments, medications, smoking, sun or tanning bed exposure and skin care products, we can not guarantee "perfect" results. Besides, a perfectly symmetrical look is not real and will appear fake. Therefore, if irregularities in the procedures develop, from the above mentioned conditions, additional procedures may be necessary. These conditions also affect the longevity of the permanent cosmetics. |

Frequently Asked Questions: |
What are eyelash extensions made of?
Eyelash extensions are made of synthetic silk fibers, which are sanitized and hypoallergenic. The eyelash extensions are curved and sized to look as if they were yours.
Are eyelash extensions safe?
Eyelash extensions are applied using a surgical grade adhesive formulated with the same ingredient used in suture less wound procedures (where adhesive is inserted into an open wound). The procedure is pain-free and will not harm your eyelids or natural lashes. Eyelash extensions are never applied directly to your eyelids.
How long will they last?
With proper care, your lash extensions will last as long as your own lashes. The life cycle of natural lashes is about 10 to 12 weeks. In order for us to successfully bond a lash to your own lash however; we must target a lash that is long enough to support the length of the extension. Typically these lashes are about 5 to 6 weeks old and are close to full maturity. This leaves you with about 5 to 6 weeks of wear before the last lash falls off. Since your own lashes fall off at different intervals, your extensions will slowly be shed off with the natural lash over the 5 to 6 week period. Because of this, touch ups are recommended about every 2 weeks to maintain the fullness of lush lashes. Note: there is no need to get a brand-new full set of eyelash extensions if you come in for fill-ins or touchups every two weeks.
How thick will they make my lashes?
Typically a full set of lash extensions will thicken your own lashes about 30 to 50%. If you are used to wearing the strip or flair extensions, you will find that this technology is not as thickening and as heavy as the old technology. It is designed to give you a more natural look.
How long will my lashes be extended to?
On average, the extensions can make your lashes anywhere from 30% to 50% longer than your own lashes. We can extend them out as long as 80%, but find that they don't last more than a week.
What do I have to do to keep them up?
With proper care and maintenance, touch-ups are typically only needed once every 2 to 4 weeks to replace the lashes that have shed. Your Naturalash® Eyelash Extensions Stylist will add extensions to the newest mature natural lashes to maintain a full, lush appearance.
Can I use mascara on my extensions?
You will not need to use mascara with these extensions. Most mascaras are petroleum based, will break down the bonding agent of the extensions, and dramatically shorten their lives. Because your bottom lashes touch your top lashes when the eye is closed, we recommend not using your normal mascara on your bottom lashes as well. However, for those mascara dye-hard fans, the answer is to use it sparingly or you can use recommended Mascara, specially formulated for eyelash extensions, which we sell at our salon.
What about eye liner?
Avoid waxy/creamy pencils and stick to powder/brush combinations.
Can I use my cleanser to remove my make up?
Because cleansers are usually very emollient, we don't recommend that you use it for the eyelash extensions. Instead we recommend that you use a non-oily makeup remover. We recommend that you switch to the oil free makeup dissolver for removing makeup from the entire face for the duration of the extensions.
Will these extensions pull my own eyelashes off?
If you pull on your extensions or are rough on them, your eyelash will come off with the extension. Not to worry, however; your lashes will grow back without any problems. The best thing to do is to treat your lashes with respect and be gentle with them. The gentler you are, the longer they will last.
Who is your typical client and why do they get extensions?
Most women will love the look! The reasons are varied. Some want to lengthen their existing short natural lashes. Others want their lashes to look fuller. Some women are allergic to mascara or simply do not like to wear it. A number of women with blonde or light brown lashes, use eyelash extensions to darken their existing lashes. |
